  1. Faith & Sight

This song is the story of Simeon in Luke 2, a just and devout man to whom the Holy Spirit revealed he would not see death until he had seen the Lord's Christ. Luke 2:29-32 says "Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou has prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel."

The Bible doesn't say exactly how long Simeon had to wait to see Jesus. But regardless of whether it was one year or thirty years, what an incredibly glorious day it must have been when Simeon saw Joseph and Mary bring Jesus to the temple...the day Simeon's faith became sight.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Can it be
The day for which I’ve waited all this time
The coming of the Savior of mankind
Can it be

[Verse 2]
Can it be
So rich a love that God would send His Son
A human child, incarnate Lord of all
Can it be, oh can it be

[Pre-Chorus]
Let all the earth lift high the name of Jesus
The hope of heaven has come down to save us

[Chorus]
Oh the joy that fills my soul
That here before me is the One who makes me whole
Oh the joy my heart is overwhelmed
I’ve seen the promised Prince of Peace, Immanuel
I’ve seen the promised Prince of Peace, Immanuel

[Verse 3]
Can it be
The hour in which my faith now turns to sight
The promise of salvation has drawn nigh
Can it be, oh can it be

[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]

John 1:29, 32-34

[Chorus]
